Milled Basmati Rice.
1 - 2 servings = 1/2 cup rice, 3/4 cup water, 1/4 tsp salt (optional), 1/2 tbsp oil or butter (optional). 3 - 4 servings = 1 cup rice, 1 1/2 cups water, 1/2 tsp salt (optional), 1 tbsp oil or butter (optional). 5 - 6 servings = 1 1/2 cups rice, 2 1/4 cups water, 3/4 tsp salt (optional), 1 1/2 tbsp oil or butter (optional). Stovetop: 1. In a sauce pan bring water to boil. 2. Add rice, optional salt and optional oil. Stir. Bring to a boil and then cover. 3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. 4. Let stand for 5 minutes, covered. Fluff with a fork and serve. Microwave: 1. In a microwaveable dish, bring water to a boil. 2. Add rice, optional salt and optional oil. Stir, cover and microwave on High (full power) for 6 minutes. Microwave on Defrost (30% power) for 8 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. 3. Let stand for 5 minutes, covered. Fluff with a fork and serve. Microwave ovens vary. Times given are approximate. For best results: To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or drain after cooking. For firmer rice, use less water and simmer for a shorter time. For softer rice, use more water and simmer for a longer time.
