Our story begins over 60 years ago, in 1948, when Marie Callender first baked pies for local restaurants. Baking from scratch, Marie used only the finest ingredients and put such love and care into each and every pie that people took notice. Before long, Marie began offering her good home cooking and legendary pies at a restaurant of her own. The word spread and soon Marie Callender restaurants were opened all across the West. We've been warming hearts and tummies with our famous recipes ever since. Filling: Blackberries, Sugar, Water, Raspberries, Apples, Dextrose, Modified Food Starch, Corn Starch, Salt, Citric Acid. Crust: Enriched Wheat Flour (Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Vegetable Shortening (Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil), Water, Dextrose, Salt, Sodium Metabisulfite.
Keep frozen. Baking: Conventional Oven: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F; Remove plastic wrapper from pie. Let pie thaw 5 minutes at room temperature before making holes to avoid breakage of top crust; Gently make 3 - 4 holes near the center of top crust with fork (this helps to vent pie during baking); Cover cookie sheet with aluminum foil and place frozen pie on cookie sheet on center oven rack; Bake pie for 60-70 minutes or until golden brown; Remove pie from oven on cookie sheet. Never lift pie pan by the edges; Pie will slice and serve most easily when cooled at least 3 hours. Marie's Baking Tips: If edges of pie begin to brown excessively, cover edges with a strip of aluminum foil and continue baking; Our pies are filled with luscious ripe fruit; some juices may bubble over while baking so be sure to cover your cookie sheet with aluminum foil; To give your pie crust an even more beautiful, flaky appearance, brush on a beaten egg before baking (avoid brushing egg on the pattern around the pie's edge). Keep frozen until ready to bake.
