Pick Your Pie
The selection at your Giant Eagle or Market District Bakery varies based on season and availability. But here are the pies you’re likely to find.
We top our fresh apple pie with rich caramel and crunchy chopped walnuts for a dessert that’s decadently delicious. Just one bite and you’ll see why this apple pie is so special.
We combine red cherries with our special sugar recipe for a pie that offers the perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. Because our cherries exceed USDA Grade A standards, this cherry pie is unmatched in quality and taste.
Four different types of berries go into every Very Berry pie. Fresh strawberries, red raspberries, blueberries and blackberries add their own distinctive flavor and sweetness in this delicious combination.
This Pennsylvania Dutch favorite is made from an old-fashioned recipe in our tender crust. A sweet streusel topping of brown sugar, butter, cinnamon and vanilla gives it its classic taste that’s as good as homemade.

In order to ensure Market District pies are always fresh and always have the home-cooked taste you expect, we work with Gardner Pies in nearby Akron, Ohio.
Gardner Pies is a family-owned business founded in 1947 by Ross and Dolores Gardner, who sold fresh-baked pies from a truck to workers leaving local manufacturing plants.
Now, Gardner takes real and premium ingredients, generously tucks them in a signature crust crafted with flour from Ohio mills, freezes them using the latest advancements, and hands them off to your store.
When Giant Eagle or Market District bakes the pies on-site, it’s the first time they’ve ever been baked.
“The term for the pies we make is ‘natural-juice fruit pies,’ Tom Cavanaugh, VP of Sales and Marketing said, “because they never contain any high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils or artificial flavors. We look to get everything locally when available, and if we can’t, we buy from smaller, family-owned businesses like ourselves.”
Today’s second-generation owners are Tom Gardner, Nancy Gardner-Goff and Bob Goff. Two of Nancy and Bob’s daughters are also intimately involved in running the company. Gardner Pies employs more than 100 people and the company is an avid supporter of local high schools, breast cancer awareness and the Ohio Proud Program.
If you ask us, that’s pretty sweet!
To enjoy or serve a Fruit Pie warmed: Remove pie from box, place on oven rack in a preheated oven at 325°F for 10-15 minutes.
If you prefer consuming pies with a chill, store refrigerated. Otherwise, store ambient.
