Whip up some deliciously bite-sized French donut holes—perfect for dipping in your favorite sauce—in just 30 minutes with this simple chocolate chip beignet recipe.


  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 3 cups Giant Eagle all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup Giant Eagle granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. Arm & Hammer™ pure baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. Clabber Girl® double acting baking powder
  • 2 large Giant Eagle eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. McCormick® pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp. Giant Eagle unsalted melted butter
  • 2 cups Giant Eagle buttermilk
  • 1 cup Giant Eagle semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (11.5 oz.) jar Smucker’s Simple Delight salted caramel
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar


  Prep Time: 10 min. • Cook Time: 20 min.

Fill a large pot halfway with vegetable oil and heat to 375°F.

In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, and baking powder. In a separate bowl combine the eggs, vanilla, melted butter, and buttermilk. Combine wet and dry ingredients, do not over-mix. Once mixed, fold in the chocolate chips.

Carefully add spoonfuls of the batter to the heated oil and cook 3-4 minutes and then flip. Cook for another 3-4 minutes and remove from oil and place on a paper towel lined sheet tray.

Continue until all batter is cooked. Heat the caramel sauce in a microwave safe bowl for 1-2 minutes or until warm.

Sprinkle the beignets with powdered sugar and dip into caramel sauce.
