Ham and Muffuletta Sandwich

For an authentic New Orleans meal, make a ham and muffuletta sandwich. Thick-cut ham and Provolone cheese accompanied with a homemade olive salad spread creates a delicious Italian inspired sandwich.

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar (6.36 oz.) Divina mixed Greek olives
  • 1 cup Mezzetta giardiniera mix
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 loaf Mancini homemade bread
  • 1 tsp. Simply Organic crushed red pepper
  • 1 tsp. Simply Organic dried oregano
  • 1 Tbsp. Colavita red wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup Market District extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lb. Oscar Mayer thick cut ham
  • 1 package (10 ct.) Giant Eagle sliced provolone cheese

Directions:

Drain the olives and giardiniera mix and finely chop. Peel garlic and finely chop. Slice bread down the middle lengthwise.

In a bowl, combine the chopped olives, giardiniera, crushed red pepper, garlic, oregano, red wine vinegar and olive oil.

Spoon the olive mixture on the bottom layer of the bed along with all the juices. Layer the ham and cheese. Place the top of the bread and wrap in plastic wrap. Place a sheet tray on top of sandwich with a few cans to weigh down the sandwich and let sit for at least one hour.

Slice sandwich into wedges and enjoy!
