Hawaiian Fried Rice

  • 2 cups Dynasty® jasmine rice
  • 2 green onions, divided
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 cup fresh chopped pineapple
  • 2 Giant Eagle eggs
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil, divided
  • 1 Hatfield® ham steak, diced into 1/2- inch cubes
  • 3 Tbsp. Giant Eagle reduced sodium soy sauce


  • Add rice into a small pot and cover with 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil and then lower to a simmer and cover. Cook until rice is cooked and liquid is gone. Spread rice on a sheet tray in an even layer (you can use leftover rice or do this step the night ahead if you have time).
  • Crack eggs and whisk in a small bowl.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of canola oil in large skillet or wok. Add in ham and cook for a few minutes to caramelize. Add pineapple and do the same. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Heat another 2 tablespoons of canola oil and add rice, leaving it alone in the pan so it starts to crisp up. Add ginger and soy sauce and cook for a few more minutes. Add egg and cook for about 2 more minutes. Once egg is cooked, add half of the green onion and salt and pepper. Top rice with remaining green onions and enjoy!
