The Best Burger Blends

Taking a bite into a big juicy burger is one of life’s greatest pleasures. But if you’re still just using beef and beef alone for your patties, you’re missing out on what can become a feast for all the senses. Keep reading for what to put in burger meat to create the best burger blends, plus recipes for a mouthwatering burger, every time.

The Best Beef

Before you start adding ingredients to your beef mix, be sure you’re choosing the right meat! For the best, juiciest burgers, choose a ground beef that is 70 percent lean and 30 percent fat. To make your burgers a bit more healthy, you can choose a more lean beef, but know that you’ll have to add some sort of liquid or moisture so that your patties stay together.

Bread Crumbs

If you’re using fresh meat for your burgers, adding bread crumbs into the mix is a great way to make sure your burger patties stick together and don’t end up a crumbling mess. Adding in bread crumbs can also help “stretch” your meat, filling in for the fat that gets burned out while cooking. But be sure to only add in bread crumbs when your meat is exceptionally moist and fresh, otherwise you can dry out your patties.

Eggs

If you want to add extra moisture to your burger without adding in any extra flavor, an egg for every pound of beef is your best bet. This is especially helpful if you’re using low-fat ground beef or other lean meat that can easily become dry without the excess fat to bind it.

Cheese

You’re used to putting cheese on burgers, but what about putting cheese in burgers? Mixing in grated Parmesan cheese or a shredded Cheddar cheese mix into your meat will not only add a bit of moisture, it will also add a punch of cheesy goodness to your beef that you’ll be able to savor in every bite.

Bacon

When you’re wondering how to make a burger better—or really any food better—adding bacon surely comes to mind. Instead of just popping some slices onto your burger, add some small pieces of chopped, uncooked bacon and add them directly into your patty mix. Adding bacon not only adds a richness to your burger, but helps bind the patty and tastes amazing!

Peanut Butter

You may not think peanut butter and beef would go together—but think again! Adding in creamy peanut butter creates a salty/sweet flavor sure to surprise and delight your taste buds. The extra fat in the peanut butter helps keep the patties moist on the inside while still allowing for that nice char on the outside that seals in the liquids.
