Food Tips

• Prepare simple foods that won’t spoil or melt quickly.
• Avoid super messy or hard to eat foods.
• Choose finger foods that are prepared ahead of time and easy to transport. Sandwiches, wraps, cheese and crackers, raw vegetables, and fruit are perfect.
• Keep dessert simple too. Cookies and brownies are great. Steer clear of treats with frosting that can melt easily.

Other Tips

• Leave no trace. Keep your picnic spot just as you found it. Take trash bags to dispose of your garbage.
• Bring sunscreen and bug spray. Don’t let the hot sun or pesky bugs stand in your way of enjoying your picnic.
• Pack two coolers: one for food and one for drinks so you don't have to open and close the food cooler.
• Be prepared. If you are going to a new place research the location ahead of time so you know what type of seating to bring, where the nearest bathroom is, other activities that are around the area, etc.
• Be comfortable! Choose an area that is shaded to keep you and your food cool. Bring throw pillows to rest on or lawn chairs if you want to avoid sitting directly on the ground.
